What to pack for NYC? (In August)?
I'd bring two pairs of jeans (shorts or long pants, your choice), a jacket or sweater (something with a hood to protect from rain), waterproof shoes you can comfortably walk in, a nice shirt, and three regular shirts. No need to dress up a lot for a Broadway show--I work in a broadway theater and most people really do just wear jeans and a nice shirt. Slip in a pair of nice flats if there's space (they take up less space than heels), the correct amount of underwear and socks, a book, your iPod, and maybe some paper or some other activity to amuse you. You're only going for three days, so there's no need to bring a laptop or anything like that. Oh, and don't forget your phone, camera, and all the necessary charging equipment. You may also want writing utensils (especially a sharpie if you intend to stage door after the broadway show). For the flight, wear all of your bulkiest items to save space in your bags.
