Green Day fans: What do you think about American Idiot being a movie?

It's been confirmed that Tom Hanks and Michael Mayer are directing American Idiot, and Billie Joe is playing St. Jimmy, I personally think this is terrible, nothing was wrong with American Idiot being a broadway show but now there making it into a movie? The alblums 7 years old,It's my favourite alblum but now there killing it, the Broadway show didin't even start touring yet. I saw American Idiot with Billie Joe 3 times, it's understandable him being in the play, but now I think Billies selling himself out. Instead of taking time to work on a new alblum now, there taking 2 years off to film it, which means a big delay for any hope of a new Green Day alblum, what are your thoughts about this?
